Lifestyle Group NI entered the holiday park sector in 2019, acquiring five parks in Northern Ireland.

Focusing on technology as a priority, the parks cater to a diverse customer base, offering homes ranging from £20,000 to £250,000. With a new owner, Adrian Gleave, fully involved in day-to-day operations, the strategy is to embrace growth and development in the evolving market.

Over 18 months, Lifestyle Group NI implemented comprehensive software solutions from Elite Dynamics, aiming for a complete transformation. Recognizing the importance of a strong system, they appointed a technology champion, Andrew Guy, to ensure successful integration and maximize the benefits of the new software.

The challenges

  • The initial challenge was to modernise the existing infrastructure and implement comprehensive software solutions.
  • The parks cater to a mixed demographic, from customers seeking affordable starter homes to those interested in luxury seafront units. Managing diverse customer needs and expectations posed a challenge.
  • Lifestyle Group NI recognised the evolving market trends, such as a shift from static caravans to luxury lodges. Adapting to these changes and meeting customer demands for more luxurious accommodations presented a challenge.
  • Implementing new software involved overcoming resistance to change among the staff. People, by nature, resist change, and managing this resistance was crucial for the success of the technology adoption.
  • Ensuring that the staff is adequately trained to use the new software was a critical aspect. The customer emphasised the importance of having a 'technology champion' (Andrew Guy) to drive the implementation and provide training.
  • Transitioning from older processes, which relied heavily on spreadsheets, to a comprehensive software solution required a revaluation and optimisation of existing business processes.
  • They wanted to establish a strong foundation for future growth, ensuring business continuity in case of unforeseen events, as well as scalability to accommodate future acquisitions and park expansions.
  • There were limitations of relying on individual staff members to hold important data, emphasising the need for a centralized and easily accessible system.
