After comparing many tools and applications to replace our old marketing platform, we’ve recently decided to implement Microsoft Dynamics 365’s marketing application, Customer Insights – Journeys, into our internal CRM to enhance our marketing activity and communications to our customers, leads and prospects.
What is Dynamics 365 Customer Insights?
Dynamics 365 Customer Insights is now made up of two applications, Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Journeys and Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Data.
Businesses can use the two applications together, but also independently, tailoring the experience to suit your unique business requirements. The integration aims to elevate the overall approach to customer engagement.
Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Journeys
Formally known as “Microsoft Dynamics 365 Marketing”, Microsoft made the decision to change this application’s name to “Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Journeys”.
This name change marks Microsoft’s investment in Real-time journeys, introducing generative AI and other innovations exclusively for this space. Existing users of Outbound marketing are encouraged to transition to Real-time journeys for a more advanced experience.
Existing customers of Dynamics 365 Marketing can continue to use the solution as usual. However, new customers will not have access to the Outbound marketing module as Microsoft has decided to focus on developing the Real-time marketing module.
In Microsoft’s recent blog post they address the shift from Outbound marketing to a Real–time only marketing solution: “Real-time marketing enables highly personalised, real-time customer journey orchestration across all customer touchpoints in addition to more effective segment-based marketing.
While it offers multiple distinct capabilities, real-time marketing also offers enhanced capabilities available in Outbound marketing such as lead scoring and forms. Real-time marketing improves productivity by optimizing marketers’ workflows.” Microsoft Blog
Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Data
There have been no functionality changes made to what was called ‘Dynamics 365 Insights’, the only change being that it is now named ‘Customer Insights – Data’ and comes in one unified application alongside ‘Customer Insights – Journeys’.
This unified application is designed to provide users with the most value possible and to enable the highest level of personalisation for their customer journeys in real-time. By combining the solutions Microsoft have simplified licensing and made it easier for customers to buy and use their applications.
